Ms. Roklan practices in the Real Estate and Energy and Utilities Practice Groups.
Prior to joining Brown Rudnick, Ms. Roklan served as a legal intern to the Honorable Justice Daniel A. Procaccini, Rhode Island Superior Court and later completed an externship with the Honorable Judge Arthur Votolato in U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of Rhode Island. During law school, Ms. Roklan was a member of the honors program and acted as a faculty research assistant. She was also an assistant editor of the Roger Williams University Law Review.
Representative Matters
• Assists in the representation of an electric utility company in its efforts to secure approvals from the Department of Public Utilities and the Energy Facilities Siting Board for the siting of new electric transmission lines. Specifically, Ms. Roklan (i) researches various legal issues regarding the siting of transmission lines; (ii) drafts petitions and briefs for authority to construct transmission lines pursuant to M.G.L. c. 164, § 72 and M.G.L. c. 164, § 69J, petitions for zoning exemptions, motions for consolidation and motions for confidential treatment; and (iii) prepares the petitions and supporting analyses for filing with the appropriate agency.
• Assisted with the review and preparation of a petition regarding regulatory requirements for a potential merger of energy holding companies.
• Assisted in the representation of a large real estate investment trust in connection with (i) the refinancing of a $350 million loan and (ii) the sale and conversion of condominium units in a large biomedical research facility.
