Biography

Mr. Camilleri represents institutional clients, lenders, Fortune 500 corporations, universities, retailers, not-for-profit organizations, hospitals, developers, and other clients in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions. Mr. Camilleri’s practice includes the areas of financings, workouts and restructurings, leasing, acquisitions and dispositions, zoning and land use, development, military housing privatization projects, affordable housing, general contract matters and various other project matters. He has worked closely with federal, state, and municipal agencies, departments, boards and commissions on behalf of his clients.

Representative Matters
• Represented Fortune Global 500 financial services company in connection with the development of new regional headquarters, including zoning and land use, acquisition, financing, development and construction of project.

• Represented national life sciences REIT and its joint venture with a global life insurance company in various transactions, including the acquisition and disposition of multiple properties and $350 million refinancing with lender group comprised of life insurance company, pension fund and foreign commercial bank.

• Represents developer in connection with the development of a transit-oriented affordable housing community in Stamford, Connecticut, including acquisition, corporate and construction matters, and financing including with Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (tax credits and mortgage loan), local government lender and Fortune 50 company’s global commercial real estate investment unit.

• Represent national lender in the sales, modifications and workouts of multiple defaulted real estate mortgage loans, including financings of note and mortgage sales.

• Represent commercial bank in its role as collateral and administrative agent for lenders in connection with $600 million term loan and revolving credit facilities as to real estate matters, including mortgages, collateral and security issues, leasing, title, survey and subdivision issues.

• Represented project owner in connection with the acquisition, development and $835 million total bond financing of military housing under the Military Housing Privatization Act including housing related to Air Force, Army and Navy bases.

• Represent landlords, including major university, in various retail and office leasing matters, including retail and office leases, lease defaults, modification and assignment issues, including in connection with bankruptcy proceedings.

• Represents Fortune 50 retailer in connection with zoning, wetlands and other development and construction permitting matters throughout Connecticut.

• Represents various hospitals in connection with leasing, construction, development and financing matters.

• Represented project owner in connection with redevelopment of historic retail building, including government, tax credit, mezzanine and mortgage loan financings, leasing, zoning, and various other project issues.

• Represented various project owners in connection with project refinancing matters, loan modifications, and defaulted loan issues.

• Represented project owner in connection with the acquisition, development, tax credit and other financing and construction of a State of Connecticut Assisted Living Demonstration Project 100-unit affordable housing facility in Hartford.
